Hey everyone, Kris here with a lot of very exciting news! The past few months at Krafties have been amazing, and it’s looking like this trend is going to continue well into 2018. Forgive me for the wall of text that follows this, there’s a lot to say!

First, we raised over TWO THOUSAND dollars for Toys For Tots with our last Limited Edition creature! I’m trying to find a word like “amazing” or “spectacular” to use to describe it, but there’s just nothing I can think of that really represents exactly how proud I am of us for accomplishing this. Thank you guys! This makes three years that we’ve done this kind of fundraiser for Toys For Tots, and each year we’ve done better and better.

Next, let’s talk FISHING. We did that crowdfunding thing a while back, but what’s been going on with it since then? Some of you may have caught a few of the messages, or seen some of the demo items on the Krafties Sim, but I think it’s time we reel in some of the rumors and get an official announcement out. Fishing. Is. Going. To. Be. Awesome. We raised WAY more than we were expecting with our first crowdfunding event, and because of this the fishing system is (if I may say so myself) one of the coolest things Krafties has ever produced. I’ve taken a special, personal interest in making sure this thing blows you guys out of the water, in the hopes that our first crowdfunded addition impresses everyone so much that we get the opportunity to do more! So, where are we exactly with fishing you ask? Check this out:

This is the proof of concept version of the aquarium app mentioned in the crowdfunding material, with some extra flavor that I think adds a lot. You can already see the 60 different varieties of fish that were to be included in the fishing system in the app right now, but I’m planning to add much more than that as a sort of “thank you” while technical aspects of the fishing system are being fine tuned. We have some talented people designing the fish, and they’re glad for the work! One thing I’m very excited for: the app will MOST LIKELY run on your smartphone! It’s in an un-optimized state right now, but it’s looking very possible that our app engine will be smart phone compatible this year! Anyway, here’s a little run-down of how things will work when the fishing system is released.

Step 1) You’ll find a place to fish
Step 2) You’ll cast out your line
Step 3) Depending on a variety of factors (and the power of random numbers), you’ll probably catch a fish! The fish will vary in type, size, and rarity and will be automatically placed into your “Fish Bank”, which holds a set number of live fish. The “Fish Bank” can be viewed in the fishing app, which is also where your aquariums will be accessed.
Step 4) You’ll open up your Fishing App, where the “Fish Bank” is located. The “Fish Bank” lets you manage any live fish that aren’t in one of your aquariums. From the bank you can see all of a fish’s info, release the fish, transfer it, or gut it (turn it into a cookable or consumable item).
Step 5) You’ll put your best fish into aquariums! These aquariums vary in size and can be populated with a variety of plants or decorations, not to mention your cool fish!
Step 6) You’ll wait! The fish will do… fish things…
Step 7) You’ll pop the item bubbles that your fish dig up, and receive items that can be used for fishing, the aquariums, or in other parts of Krafties! Different fish may find different types of items, and they may react to specific decorations/plants being present in the tank with them in spectacular new ways.
Step 8) You’ll keep your tanks clean and your fish fed, and they’ll supply you with a bountiful harvest of items! I know, you heard the word feeding and got scared, I know you did! But don’t worry! You can find what you need to keep your fish happy just by playing the game.

I’m anticipating seeing some absolutely gorgeous aquariums you guys create, and I hope this little explanation gets you guys feeling amped for fishing.

Finally, and this is HUGE: Krafties is becoming Krafties Inc!

Krafties has officially grown up, and with that comes some exciting new prospects (along with some slightly daunting paperwork, but you guys can leave that part to me). What does this mean for you as a player? Only good things, I promise! On the smaller end of things, if everything goes right it means more content and features being developed at a faster rate, along with more frequent bug fixes and design enhancements. I’m working alongside some very talented people to get the fishing system to a viable state, and some other very talented people are working on improving or adding other aspects of Krafties as you read this (Probably, I don’t know their schedules. But that sounded nice, right?). In the near future I’m hoping to have the Voting App (which hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves, and may be upgraded and retooled into something different and 100x more powerful) filled to the brim with concept images of the creature ideas you guys come up with. This project is now underway and you guys will see some of the fruits of this labor soon!

Along with that, and slightly related to the retooling of the voting app into more of a feature addition app, I think we’ll be seeing a lot more creature coats this year, possibly ones that you guys are coming up with! A big step that’s been in the works is dumbing down the process of creating skins for the creatures to a point that a designer without any experience in Second Life or with sculptie creation can hop on board and knock one out, and I think we just may be there. If I’m right, this opens the door for millions of designers all over the world to work with Krafties, instead of the much smaller pool found within Second Life. And the features! All the features! Let’s just say that I have high hopes for Krafties, and this feels like the next big step in a hopefully long, fun filled adventure.

I’d like thank each and every one of you reading this for supporting Krafties and getting us to this point. Stick around and you might see something pretty darn cool.

Thank you

– Kris

PS. Have fun!
