Alchemy is the ability you can gain by completing the Home Sweet Home quest. This ability allows you to convert any normal looted items into Mental experience depending on the type of Mental Tablet you use.
You only need to run the quest ONCE for each Krafties to gain the spell, however in order to create all three tablets you will need to run the Quest three times.
Once you have gained the ability on your creature, you need a Mental Tablet.
Rez your Mental tablet and then rez your loot on the tablet. Click the tablet to convert your item into experience.
If you get the problem: No Suitable Spells, you must redo the Home Sweet Home quest to give that creature the ability.
